The wreck happened in the southbound lanes near Burgert Lane in Maidencreek Township around 8:10 a.m., according to the Northern Berks Police Department.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene by the Berks County Coroner's Office. He was identified as Christopher Lee Rankin, 28, WFMZ reports.
Further details surrounding the crash were not immediately known.
Pennsylvania State Police were also called to investigate and the highway reopened sometime around 1 p.m.
